Reports Predict LED Shortage

Reports predict LED shortage in the near future.  This reported on the FutureLight website:
 
"A new report suggests that the abrupt switch to more energy-efficient means of lighting could see LED lamps in short supply in the near future." {Read more]
 
The people who are switching out their LED lights in their homes are either going all out or changing them out as their incandesdent and halogen lights burn out.  If you are the latter, you might want to stock up.

Philips Develops World’s First AC-Powered OLED

Philips reached a new milestone in OLED lighting this week: the first AC-powered OLED module. In the past, OLED technology required DC voltage — a requirement that meant OLED panels had to contain expensive switching mechanisms. But the new AC-powered OLEDs can be plugged directly into a standard wall socket, potentially bringing down the cost of the low-energy lights.

LED Spotted at Walmart

LED light bulbs haven’t yet penetrated mainstream thinking in East Tennessee, but it’s a good sign when they start showing up in local Walmart stores.

The incandescent bulb has a huge target on it despite some recent set backs from the Republican representative from Texas, Joe Barton. Super sized retail chains are reading the tea leaves and are starting to get on board by offering larger and larger LED selections.
